Benefit albums like Bridge School Concerts, Vol. 1 are a mixed blessing; you feel churlish criticizing them, yet know how disappointing they can be. This compilation of unplugged performances from Neil Young’s Bridge School shows is a notch above the charity-CD pack, primarily because of surprises like Ministry’s reverent, tie-dyed cover of the Grateful Dead’s ”Friend of the Devil.” B+
