Book Review: 'The Velocity of Money'
When a consortium of fabulously wealthy, amoral international financiers conspire to hurl America into a second Great Depression for their own fun and profit, the fate of the economy rests in the unlikely hands of young Wall Street attorney Rick Hansen. While pseudonymous financial-industry attorney/author Rhodes loads his impressive first novel with the requisite thriller elements — expensive cigars, a mole, a respectable body count, and ex-KGB thugs, bugs, and wiretaps — it’s the crisp dialogue, vivid description, and complex financial and technological jargon that make this novel a smart, challenging, and at times even educational read. Keep a dictionary close by — you just might need it. A-
