It ought to be easy to dismiss this precocious fivesome as a snotty hand-me-down via Pavement and the Fall. But if the bouncy, baleful organ-driven rock they premiered on last year’s Tremble Under Boom Lights EP merely raised some speculative eyebrows, their major-label debut is a sleeker, more oblique outing, and positively arresting.
