Two years after striking crossover gold with Boombastic, Shaggy abandons the hardcore flavor of that rambunctious top 5 single for reggae-spiced R&B in Midnite Lover. But his third album is mostly spineless, watered-down stuff, better suited to Maxi Priest (who happens to be in the house). And the world certainly does not need to take yet another ”Piece of My Heart.” C+
