This Roger Corman production — a tale of space vampires from the planet Draculon and the diaper-clad heroine who travels across space and time to stop them — is really a remarkable piece of work. Never before has there been a film that so acutely conveys what it is to be attacked by a vampire: With its bargain-basement acting (the Who’s Daltrey and ex-Bond girl Talisa Soto are about as compelling as soap), Etch-A-Sketch special effects, and sophomoric script, Vampirella, which premiered on Showtime, actually sucks the life right out of you.
