Hint of Mess

Andrew Dorff’s debut, Hint of Mess, opens with a propulsive number called ”Supercool,” which is precisely what the singer-songwriter (and kid brother of indie film staple Stephen Dorff) aims to be. There are some appealing musical ideas (the folky, hip-hopping swing of ”Too Far Underground”), but Dorff’s mush-mouthed delivery makes him sound less like an innovative upstart than some boozed-up novelty act.
