Rendezvous in Paris

The latest in French director Eric Rohmer’s series of moral tales, Rendezvous in Paris, is actually an omnibus of three delicately witty stories involving head-over-heels twentysomethings navigating the treacherous shoals of romance. Of course, there is the usual incessant talking (what would Rohmer have done in the silent era?) among attractive actors as they wander around various photogenic Parisian locations. Now 77, Rohmer has delivered something rare these days: a film as wise as it is charming. It also makes for a pleasant armchair trip to the City of Light — for the price of a rental. B
