Your summer ”It List” issue (#385/386, June 27/July 4) is among the best in your history. To acknowledge such impressive examples of creativity was a welcome change from the usual ”most attractive people” lists. Most of the people on your list rarely receive the recognition that they so rightly deserve. Your acknowledgment of their talent proved that you rise high above your competition.
It was such a pleasant surprise to see some justice in your 100 Most Creative People list. Including people like Bo Welch, Darius Khondji, Kyle Cooper, and Steve Williams shows that you are willing to give credit to people other than the producers, directors, actors, and writers in this town. And when you did include a director, you chose a foreigner like Atom Egoyan. Keep it up!
When I first saw another ”list” issue I groaned. When I saw who was on your ”It List,” I was pleasantly surprised to find the behind-the-scenes people who usually never get any recognition. I was overjoyed to see the people nominated for programs I didn’t think anyone else knew about. Now I can’t wait until next year’s ”It List.”
My husband and I love your magazine and especially enjoyed your 100 Most Creative People issue. But how could you leave off…Samuel L. Jackson?

It was a treat seeing my Men in Black cards mentioned in Kristen Baldwin’s item (News & Notes), but as the writer-editor responsible, the full quote should read: ”Earth? It’s not so bad once you get used to the smell. Kind of like gym class. Happy Birthday.”
