Palookaville

Yet another indie about criminals who are influenced by movies, Alan Taylor’s art-house item follows three losers attempting to bankroll their dreams through a series of inept robberies. The casual plotting and good humor don’t take away from the film’s compelling points about becoming a man. It also offers a change of pace for William Forsythe, who shines as a dog-loving nice guy, since he usually plays weirdos in big-studio productions. Palookaville‘s video release should gain attention for a compelling cameo by Fargo‘s Frances McDormand. B
