In Who Used to Dance, Abbey Lincoln sings in a voice both wise and childlike, reminiscent of Billie Holiday but in her own private groove. She melts into ballads like no one else, as on ”Love Has Gone Away,” and turns Dylan’s ”Mr. Tambourine Man” into an unfurling meditation between jazz and folk.
