Steven Tyler has sported it. So have Lenny Kravitz, Garbage’s Steve Marker, and the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan. But is America ready for male nail polish? Lines of lacquer for lads have just hit the market and each features unisex colors, like Urban Decay’s Mildew (medium green), Ripe’s Kelp (green frost), and Hard Candy’s Sex Pistol (dark silver). ”A lot of guys have feminine sides,” says former Sunset Beach star Ashley Hamilton, who adds that he wore polish before it was cool. What are its prospects beyond the artsy types? Admits Hard Candy co-owner Dineh Mohajer, ”I’m not seeing it in Utah and Wyoming.” Unless, of course, Dennis Rodman is in town.
