Movie Review: 'Extreme Measures'
Grant plays a nice young doctor accused of stealing pharmaceuticals from his hospital. Hackman is the guy who framed him, a not-so-nice older doctor who has unethical answers to such ethical questions as, Is it really so wrong to kidnap homeless people and perform experimental spinal surgery on them? Though this silly medical thriller (produced by Grant’s girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley) barely registers a dramatic pulse, it has one thing to keep it from flat-lining: Grant’s stammering-Brit shtick, which comes across as charming, even if it doesn’t exactly suit a fellow in hospital whites. It’s worth renting if you can’t find some more promising prescription. C
