The Boatman's Call

On The Boatman’s Call, Nick Cave has created, wittingly or not, a kindler, gentler companion to last year’s gloomy, dyspeptic, brilliant Murder Ballads. While not exactly his spin on ”Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” there’s clearly an emphasis on redemption rather than damnation, and hope instead of hate — he even manages a tender take on the curmudgeonly ”People Ain’t No Good.”
