As the weak glue in a movie stuck somewhere between comedy and suspense drama, Reeves’ slack-jawed underacting seems just right. Gummed up by too much plot, Feeling Minnesota involves one long fraternal fracas between estranged lowlifes Jjaks (Reeves) and his volatile brother, Sam (Vincent D’Onofrio). Sam’s bride, Freddi (Diaz), is a gift from his gangster boss (Delroy Lindo), but at the wedding Freddi takes to Jjaks, and they take off in search of easy money. The scattershot story devolves into ridiculous violence, though Diaz is a bewitching charmer, and the supporting cast (including Dan Aykroyd and Courtney Love) provides a light touch. Video renters seeking giddy love on a Friday night should look elsewhere.
