This loopy collection of sax-and-vibes-saturated torch songs, sung by everyone’s favorite ex-Blondie vocalist, evokes lounges where the smoky atmosphere is provided by substances other than tobacco. On Individually Twisted, the whiff of pastiche may cause purists to wince, but the band’s deft touch with originals (”Imitation of a Kiss”) and oldies (”Doncha Go ‘Way Mad,” a duet with Elvis Costello) alike makes the Jazz Passengers’ trip through jazz’s outer fringes well worth taking.
