Anyone looking for traditional dub here will be disappointed; few of the tracks on Macro Dub Infection Vol. 2 have anything to do with the stripped-down reggae remixes of King Tubby and ”Scratch” Perry. Instead, a slew of electronic experimenters (Prince Paul, Alec Empire, and Bill Laswell, to name a few) search for the sound of the future by playing around with hip-hop, drum ‘n’ bass, and, yes, dub rhythms. Not as essential as last year’s Volume 1, but a worthwhile state-of-dub update nonetheless.
