Daddy's Girl

There’s little tension in this direct-to-video take on The Bad Seed, since Daddy’s Girl starts right off with little Jody (Gabrielle Boni) plotting the death of her meddling principal. Still, once you buy into the dementedness of a kiddie serial killer, there’s something likably perverse about this simple tale of an adopted nutcase. Making the rounds with her turtle backpack, Jody tries to spike Grandmother’s prune juice with some drain cleaner, and contrives assorted ways to get big folks down to her three-foot-high strike zone. Daddy’s Girl never manages to make the tyke seem truly menacing, but at least it tries to make her wisecracks seem engaging. B-
