Video Review: 'Oasis ... There and Then'
Hit singles like ”Wonderwall” made Oasis famous, but the rambunctious English quintet’s crowd-pleasing stage presence better explains their success. The 85-minute video Oasis … There and Then, shot with roving cranes at three British concerts, finds guitarist-vocalist Noel Gallagher running the show with workmanlike aplomb, while mesmerizing brother Liam wanders in a comical fog, alternately singing and fixing audiences with his disarmingly quizzical stare. Using guest musicians (and, for ”Live Forever,” projected images of dead rock stars), Oasis cap an uneven parade of their own tunes with a gala cover of the Beatles’ ”I Am the Walrus” and a riotous rendition of Slade’s ”Cum On Feel the Noize.” B
