Lover’s Knot is a movie so schizophrenic it deserves two grades. One would be for the pleasant romance about a pair (Campbell and Grey) who obviously deserve each other — having even been reincarnated together — but need remedial work in Relationships 101. Quite another would be for the often painfully twee writing and directing (both by Pete Shaner), especially the lame stuff about Cupid’s assistant (Tim Curry, trying his best) giving them another chance. These bits work so hard to be clever, your TV may sweat. The following average of the two grades tells why this one bypassed theaters. C
