Although the full-length debut from this Richmond trio is, at times, far too full of itself (the arena-rock scale of a song like ”Shells” obliterates any pretense of subtlety), Fulflej should be commended on being consistently over-the-top. Their full-bore reach for ”the rock moment” in Wack-Ass Tuba Riff results in a Smashing Pumpkins-style pummeling that, though lacking in depth, is nothing if not powerful.
