Women scream, pulses race — and El Vez, the Mexican Elvis, gyrates onto a club stage. On Oct. 13 at Minneapolis’ Fine Line Cafe, Robert Lopez will again add Latino spice to that undying idol of Americana, which he’s done since a 1988 impersonators’ contest. ”I walk a line between camp and commentary,” says Lopez, 32. His love of performing has returned to sender, with five albums and wildly popular tours. He says the Elvis-espanol link is natural: ”We invented the velvet painting.”
