Despite the marked unevenness that has characterized Graham Parker’s output since his late-’70s-early-’80s halcyon days, he deserves props for steadfastness. And while he’s never going to be cited for eclecticism or stylistic exploration, one can always depend on him for a clutch of taut, R&B-based cynical/romantic indictments, dissections, and laments.
