Lawsuits Jodie Foster, 33, filed a suit seeking more than $50 million on behalf of herself and her production company, Egg Pictures, against PolyGram Entertainment, June 6, in L.A. Superior Court. The suit alleges that Foster and PolyGram orally agreed that the actress would star in the psychological thriller The Game for $4.5 million and a percentage of the gross but was then dropped. Ironically, Egg and PolyGram recently renewed a three-year development deal. ”She has two relationships [with us],” says a PolyGram spokeswoman about Foster, ”one through Egg, and one as an actress. The [latter one] is at issue here.”

Splits Model Darcy LaPier, 29, filed for divorce from Jean-Claude Van Damme, 35, June 7, in L.A. LaPier tried to divorce the Muscles From Brussels in 1994, but the couple reconciled. The two have a 9-month-old son, Nicolas. A spokesman for Van Damme claims that the actor and LaPier are ”working things out.”

Real Estate If you tear it down, will they stop coming? Rocker widow Courtney Love, 31, hopes so. Love announced that she will demolish the Seattle greenhouse in which her husband, Kurt Cobain, committed suicide on April 5, 1994. Love reportedly had to spend $10,000 a month on security because droves of grungy mourners had become a nuisance at the site.

Births A 7-pound 7-ounce boy, Brandon Thomas, to Baywatch star Pamela Lee, 28, and her husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, 33, June 5, in Los Angeles. ”Brandon’s the best song I have ever written,” Tommy Lee said of their first child.

Deaths Academy Award and Tony winner Jo Van Fleet, 76, of undisclosed causes, June 10, in Queens, N.Y. Best known for playing a variety of maternal figures in such films as Cool Hand Luke, she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1955 for her portrayal of James Dean’s brothel-madam mother in East of Eden….

Character actor Vito Scotti, 88, of lung cancer, June 5, in Woodland Hills, Calif. He appeared in such films as Cactus Flower, The Godfather, and, most recently, Get Shorty, in which he played a restaurant manager. He also made numerous TV appearances, most frequently on Columbo.
