Judging from the sheer gusto of his vocals, rock & roll forefather Bo Diddley — now in his late 60s — still has the spirit; it’s too bad his band pussyfoots around him in A Man Amongst Men. Even with such guests as Rolling Stones Keith Richards and Ron Wood and Texas guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, this amiable blues-based set doesn’t rock hard enough. The man sounds like he’s amongst boys.
