The unlikely collaboration between one of rock’s glummest (Morphine’s Mark Sandman) and one of its goofiest (Presidents of the USA’s Chris Ballew), Supergroup, combines monotonous, spare instrumentation with novelty-tune vocals as peppy as a Steven Wright routine on the album It’s Not Like That Anymore. If the song’s lackluster, shaggy-dog quality bodes ill for the duo, they can take comfort in the knowledge that they have decent day jobs. B-
