Amy Tan’s reading list

I’m reading two prepublication galleys. One is by Arlene Chai, who has written a remarkable first novel, The Last Time I Saw Mother. It’s filled with family secrets and the intersection of personal and world histories and is told through four mesmerizing voices. The other is the latest novel by Gus Lee, The Tiger’s Tail, a dazzling literary thriller that looks for truth in a kaleidoscope of disguised dangers. It’s a departure from Lee’s previous stories and showcases the breadth of his storytelling talents.

Amy Tan is the author of the recent best-seller The Hundred Secret Senses.
