Despite a promising hook and impressive special effects, the dull action flick Virtuosity ends up as yet another cyberyawn. Crowe has charm as a computer-generated psycho, but director Brett Leonard (The Lawnmower Man) uses him as a comic-book villain. Washington, meanwhile, provides static heroics as the ex-cop who’s released from prison to track him down. The most notable aspect of this overplotted shambles: It’s the rare theatrical release outclassed by its direct-to-video wannabes.
