KEITH JARRETT At the Blue Note: the Complete Recordings (ECM) Few living jazz acts could get away with this: a six-CD set documenting every note of a three-night stint in New York, with nary a faulty step. Maudlin yet lyrical, reverent yet free spirited, pianist Jarrett at 50 is at the peak of his game, and this trio, with drummer Jack DeJohnette and bassist Gary Peacock, is a unified organism, breathing new life into familiar jazz standards. You’ve never heard ”Imagination” played like this, and never will again. May well be 1995’s finest jazz release. A+
