An examination of footage that purports to be a ’40s Army dissection of a gen-yew-ine space alien, this ”uncut version” of last summer’s Fox TV special adds grisly explication of actual forensic techniques but leaves the same basic questions unanswered. To wit, was narrating Alien Autopsy really the best gig Jonathan Frakes could get after Star Trek: The Next Generation? And what are movie craftsmen like cinematographer Allen Daviau and special effects expert Stan Winston doing dignifying this goofy schlock with their scrutiny? Given all the attention, maybe there is something to this footage, though I myself am more inclined to believe the aliens that show up on The X-Files. D-
