A few fans actually bowed to Jim Carrey (shepherding little Lawrence brother Andy) at the L.A. premiere of Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, but girlfriend Lauren Holly didn’t think his outfit deserved worship. ”I tried to keep him from wearing his ugly red jacket,” she said. Meanwhile, Jean-Claude Van Damme, with wife Darcy LaPier, didn’t want to feel dumb and dumber, so he ”rented the first Ace so I could follow the plot of the sequel.” Most people would just read the Cliffs Notes.

While his brother could rival Roger Clinton, The American President star Michael Douglas professes no political ambitions. ”It’s every actor’s dream to play the President,” he said at the film’s New York premiere. ”But it’s nice to be able to go on with life at the end of the day.”

”I would hate to be known as a Bond girl,” said Goldeneye villainess Famke Janssen at the 007 premiere party at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art. ”Bond girls are weak women who fall for the charms of some spy. I’m a badass.” Perhaps she’d prefer Bondage girl. —With reporting by Shirliey Fung, Jessica Shaw, and Michael Szymanski
