How to Make an American Quilt (PG-13) At first it looks like Reality Bites a Little Woman: Winona Ryder as an angst-ridden Gen Xer who finds her way with the help of an extended family of eccentric females (in this case, a California quilting bee). Soon, it becomes clear that Jocelyn Moorhouse’s drama is cut from the same cloth as Fried Green Tomatoes and The Joy Luck Club, as Ryder learns from the travails of her foremothers. Despite a few threadbare patches, Quilt hangs together quite nicely. B
