Singer-songwriter James McMurtry is sort of a Texan Lou Reed, without the heroin references. On one of Where’d You Hide the Body‘s cuts a couple relates via ”Post-it notes, opposite shifts/ Once in a blue moon/We’ll wake up in the same room.” But McMurtry’s no navel-gazer: ”Rayolight” proves he can lay a thumping beat beneath his cinematic lyrics.
