Loving, the dead horse of daytime, will get beaten with yet another stick this month when ABC introduces its three-part plan to save the forever soggy serial (it has been the lowest-rated soap since it debuted in 1983). Notorious for misusing future stars like Sisters‘ Patricia Kalember and 90210‘s Luke Perry, Loving will bump off a number of current characters as victims of a serial killer, who first strikes July 14. Then the show will move from the fictional burg of Corinth to the trendy New York nabe of SoHo, at which point it will get an even stupider title: LOV [heart] NYC. Hmm, HOW [heart] DUM. And in November, daytime alum Morgan Fairchild (Search for Tomorrow) will be given the unenviable task of pumping up the ratings with some much-needed star power. A valiant effort, but the fact remains: This soap just won’t wash.
