On the run from loan sharks, a lovable deadbeat (Sinbad) hides out in deepest suburbia, tricking a simpy lawyer (Phil Hartman) into thinking they’re boyhood pals. What follows is a series of secondhand Sinbad routines, as our hero bluffs his way through a long weekend with Hartman’s family. Houseguest is another of those watered-down Disney comedies that flash through theaters before settling into their real niche as video rentals — but even with a mid-week discount, this one’s no bargain.
