Following the lead of Dennis Hopper, his costar in the film Search and Destroy, Christopher Walken has signed to star in a CD-ROM movie game. In Ripper (as in Jack, from Take 2 Interactive, the company that created Hopper’s cyberventure Hell), he’ll play a detective trying to stop the infamous serial killer from wreaking havoc in 2040. Currently filming in New York City with Burgess Meredith, Ossie Davis, Jimmie ”J.J.” Walker, Tahnee Welch, and Raiders of the Lost Ark‘s Karen Allen and John Rhys-Davies, Ripper‘s slated to strike stores later this year.

Adding one more player to its expanding lineup, DreamWorks SKG, the Spielberg/Katzenberg/Geffen-led entertainment behemoth, is teaming up with Silicon Graphics, a leader in high-tech visual computing systems, to create DreamWorks Digital Studio, a computer-animation production company.
