YOKO ONO New York Rock (Capitol) Ono wasn’t doing her legacy any favors by fashioning her old songs into a musical theater piece called New York Rock. Letting Broadway types apply their overarticulated diction to Yoko’s work only magnifies the ditziness of her lyrics. And the cabaret artistes sound even more ludicrous mouthing early, edgier pieces like ”What a Bastard the World Is.” Think: the Brady Bunch sing Courtney. Mind-boggling. D -Jim Farber
