CRACKRJACK(1994, Republic, R, priced for rental) If you liked Cliffhanger and Die Hard, you should get together with the writers of Crackerjack and go see a few more films you’d all enjoy. Griffith stars as a burned-out cop who almost blows away the hosts of his own surprise party and then gets dragged off to a ski resort as a birthday present. In a ludicrous small-world scenario, the crime family that blew up his wife one year earlier is there, along with the terrorist who planted the bomb. While the film takes far too long setting up its obvious plot, at least it’s fun to watch Christopher Plummer as a terrorist who creeps along in wraparound shades. And fans of fading careers won’t want to miss Kinski’s big- nothing role as the resort’s activities director. C -JRT
