ARRESTS Christian Slater is scheduled to be back in New York City on Jan. 27 to face charges of criminal possession of a weapon. On Dec. 23, the Interview With the Vampire actor allegedly tried to board a Delta Airlines plane at Kennedy airport with an unregistered handgun. Slater says the reports are inaccurate. ”Mr. Slater did not have a gun on his person and was not going to board a plane with a gun on his person,” says a spokeswoman…A grand jury will hear charges in a drug-related case against Breeders guitarist Kelley Deal, 33, on Jan. 11 in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Kelley, not to be confused with twin sister and bandmate Kim, was arrested on Nov. 30 after allegedly receiving an overnight package containing several grams of heroin. The case is still under investigation. Says Sgt. Randall Warren of the Dayton police drug unit, ”We’re at the airport a lot and we just happened to get the information that there was a package coming in that was of a suspicious nature.”

CLOSINGS Chasen‘s, the legendary, 58-year-old West Hollywood eatery, where Alfred Hitchcock had his own booth and everyone from studio heads to United States Presidents noshed, on April 1. Buyers Beverly West Square Associates plan a shopping mall for the site. The restaurant’s last hurrah will be a March 27 Oscar party hosted by Miramax.

CASTING Emmanuelle Beart (Manon of the Spring) will star with Tom Cruise in Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible…Will Greg Kinnear accept that role opposite Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond in the upcoming remake of Sabrina? ”I don’t have anything to say yet,” says Kinnear spokesman Jay Schwartz. ”We’re waiting to see how things play out.”

WEDDINGS The honeymoon’s already over for Melrose Place executrix Heather Locklear, 33, and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, 35, who wed in Paris on Dec. 17. No, they’re not splitting up, they just ”had to go back to work” says a spokeswoman for the couple, who plan to live in New Jersey and L.A….Billy Joel’s former uptown girl Christie Brinkley, 40, and real-estate developer Ricky Taubman, 46, were married on a Telluride mountaintop on Dec. 22, just nine months after they survived a helicopter crash on a nearby ridge…Canadian pop star Celine Dion, 26, wed her manager, Rene Angélil, 52, in Montreal on Dec. 17….Melissa Gilbert, 30, star of NBC’s Sweet Justice, and Bruce Boxleitner, 44, of Babylon 5 finally said ”I do” on New Year’s Day in Los Angeles. Melissa’s sister, Sara Gilbert, 19, of Roseanne, was maid of honor.

BIRTHS An 8-pound, 15-ounce boy, Elijah Judd Kelley, to country singer Wynonna, 30, and boat salesman Arch B. Kelley III, 42, on Dec. 23 in Nashville…A 7-pound, 2-ounce boy, Kyle Maximilian, to newswoman Deborah Norville, 36, and her businessman/husband Karl Wellner, 40, on Dec. 12 in New York City…A 7-pound boy, Nathaniel Marvin, to ex-thirtysomething star Polly Draper, 37, and her husband, jazzman Michael Wolff, 42, on Dec. 17 in Los Angeles. ”He’s beautiful,” says Draper. ”He looks exactly like the plastic baby we used in Lamaze class, and he can already play piano like his father.”
