Everyone's Got One

Echobelly are best as pop confectioners, mixing Blondie’s smarts with Morrissey’s moody angst and covering it with a de rigueur blanket of guitar fuzz. But even when Echobelly falter on their more ambitious attempts on Everyone’s Got One, the songs are enlivened by lead singer Sonya Aurora Madan, who’s alternately independent, vulnerable, and feminist. She’s also one of England’s freshest, most intriguing voices. B+
