Movie Review: 'The Favor'
Let’s get one thing straight: No married woman would ever ask a best friend who’s single to sleep with her old high school beau and report back on it. And no non-movie relationship would ever survive all of the silliness that ensues here. But this isn’t reality — this is one of those ubiquitous ”sexy romantic comedies,” which usually means it was made for women. Since I’m no man, I liked it, with its two appealingly zany leads, Wiseguy‘s Ken Wahl (as the object of desire) doing a Fabio imitation, and punchlines inspired by home pregnancy testing kits, clowns with balloon animals, and Valium. Sure, the movie is full of caricatures, but isn’t that why they call us broads? B-
