Album Review: 'Songs'
There isn’t much turf left for Vandross to conquer. He’s racked up three Grammys and nine platinum albums, and that warm, fuzzy baritone still leaves concertgoers sighing in its wake. All he needs is a No. 1 pop single — and this hodgepodge collection of 13 revamped classics sounds like a desperate attempt to secure one. Vandross just might find what he’s looking for. Too bad it couldn’t be something less drippy than ”Endless Love.” C
