The Song Is You
Big-band leader-trombonist Dorsey was at his virtuosic peak in 1940-42, the years that he employed (and inspired the phrasing of) Sinatra. This essential five-CD set gathers not only their studio recordings but also ”live” broadcast performances, 20 of which are previously unreleased. (A misidentified ”Marie” was actually issued in ’56.) The sound quality is far superior, overall, to that of most CD reissues from this era.
