At first we thought the fast-selling Forrest Gump soundtrack was just a K-Tel- style guide through the decades. But now we see that the discs are actually – a greatest-hits package of other soundtracks. Here are some of the songs that have graced scores before:

*B.J. Thomas ”Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” (Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid) * Willie Nelson ”On the Road Again” (Honeysuckle Rose) * Three Dog Night ”Joy to the World” (The Big Chill) * Harry Nilsson ”Everybody’s Talkin”’ (Midnight Cowboy) * The 5th Dimension ”Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” (Hair) * Simon & Garfunkel ”Mrs. Robinson” (The Graduate) * Jefferson Airplane ”Volunteers” (Woodstock) * The Doors ”Break on Through (to the Other Side)” (The Doors) * Aretha Franklin ”Respect” (More American Graffiti) * Creedence Clearwater Revival ”Fortunate Son” (all Vietnam films)
