This seven-track EP of live, previously released material and British B sides may be the definitive Afghan Whigs statement. The title track, What jail is Like, typical of the band’s abrasive rock, represents frontman Greg Dulli’s penchant for tortured-boy tirades (jail is like — what a surprise — a relationship). Also included is a live Supremes’ medley — ”My World Is Empty Without You/I Hear a Symphony”; the ultimate tongue-in-cheek rock gesture, or is the sneering Dulli a closet romantic? You figure it out.
