While Combustible Edison and Love Jones are the most familiar names in the recent ”cocktail music” revival, composer-conductor Juan Garcia Esquivel was the true progenitor of that loopy subgenre. This collection of swanky orchestral soundscapes from his 1958-67 RCA Victor recordings, Space-Age Bachelor Pad Music highlights his signature anything-goes instrumentation. B+
