Like most Crue albums, Mötley Crue stays fun when it sticks to sprightly pop hooks. The ballads are lovely, and in ”Poison Apples,” new throat John Corabi snarls high notes like Johnny Rotten and speed-raps like ’70s Aerosmith. But when the guitars turn heavy, all Motley manages is overbearing plod. B
