For the Japanese release of Kris Kross’ gold-selling Da Bomb,Columbia Records has changed the album cover from a photo of amushroom cloud with a picture of the teenage rappers inside to just aphoto of the duo. The label has also removed the lyric ”We drop bombslike Hiroshima” from the title track. ”Never mind the fact that we’reowned by a Japanese company,” says a Columbiaexecutive in Sony’s international division. ”It’s just offensive.”Kris Kross’ management says the band is in agreement with thechanges. They are currently going ahead with their planned fall tourof Japan despite the controversy. The group, says a spokeswoman,”never even made the association with Japan.”
