Want to know the real secret of The Crying Game? It’s that Hollywood scribes just can’t get it out of their minds-or scripts. To wit:

* In True Romance, Christian Slater tells Patricia Arquette, ”I can’t tell you how relieved I was when you took off your dress: You didn’t have a d—!”

* In Striking Distance, Sarah Jessica Parker tells Bruce Willis, ”There’s something I have to tell you. Are you really a man?”

* In the season opener of Murphy Brown, after Miles admits he’s taking meetings in the men’s room to avoid a BBC camera crew, Murphy shrieks, ”Well, this is just wonderful. We’re having conversations in the closets and you’re doing scenes from The Crying Game.”

Still, not everybody is in the loop. On a recent Larry Sanders Show, Larry’s sidekick, Hank, asks Gene Siskel, ”What was all the hoopla? Everybody was talking about a huge plot twist. I sure didn’t get it.”
