AFGHAN WHIGS Gentlemen (Elektra) Looking for some good-time Seattle-type grunge to bang your head to? Look elsewhere. On the major- label debut by ex- Sub Poppers Afghan Whigs, guitars scratch, bleed, cry, and soar all around singer Greg Dulli’s tormented howling. Lyrically, the album’s a downer, but the brooding intensity of these anthems-for-the-alienated is as addictive as cheap drugs, a subject-along with deviant sex-that the Whigs appear to know something about.
