SWEET MURDER Helene Udy, Russell Todd (1993, Vidmark, R, $92.95) This Aussie Single White Female rip-off, which features the ugliest apartment ever ”designed” for a film, starts predictably but improves somewhat once the psychotic roomie (Udy) has killed both the ”nice” roomie (Embeth Davidtz) and her handsome boyfriend (Todd). Director Percival Rubens then plays Hitchcock, making you root for the little killer as she tries to dispose of the bodies and get away with her friend’s inheritance. A cop-out ending doesn’t entirely diminish the effort. C+-Charles Winecoff
